Intersectional Discrimination

The Human Rights Committee is the treaty monitoring body of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). As such, it is tasked to supervise, among others, the compliance of the right to non-discrimination, especially intersectional discrimination.

Intersectional discrimination refers to an interlink of different forms of discrimination and oppression. Addressing it is among the core human rights obligations assumed by States who have signed and ratified the ICCPR.
Merging the standard GA procedure and a new special procedure, this committee will aim to address this pressing issue.

Cambodian Civil War

In 1967, amidst several political interests, not only local but also internationally, a civil war in Cambodia initiated. Cambodia was the center of several interventions, as national groups and opponents of the ongoing government were generating a landscape of insecurity and uncomfortable lifestyles to the population, who had to get used to the new regime that rooted after the coup d’etat in 1970. Many years would have to pass so that, in 1975, the civil war finished because the Khmer Rouge took control of the country and instilled a terror regime.

This emergency session of the Security Council has been called by urging of the Soviet Union, and will take place on May 1st, 1970, following an escalation of violence after the coup d’état of Cambodian Prime Minister Lon Nol, and the announcement of a military incursion of American and South-Vietnamese troops, made by President Richard Nixon only yesterday.

Joint Cabinet Crisis - La Resistencia de Vilcabamba (1537)

La Corte de Manco Inca

Munasqa hermanokunaqa,

Carlos I y V

Rey de España y Emperador del Sacro Imperio Romano Germánico

Crisis Committee - The Presidential Council of F. W. de Klerk (1990)

Abolishing the Apartheid

To all the honorable members of my Presidential Council,

Our country, the land of many cultures is confronting new disturbance, and we must do something about it. The Apartheid is one of our most criticized politics nowadays, and in conjunction with protests and international community pressure, we must arrive at conclusions, decisions, and actions.

It will be up to us to decide what to be done, for the sake of our country, and for the sake of our society.

May God bless all of you,

Frederik Willem de Klerk

Third-Party Actors

Press Corps

The Third-Party Actors Committee will include several members of the press corps, which play a fundamental role in our society. They have a responsibility to inform the international community in a reliable and trustworthy manner. They are also the mouthpiece for those who have been silenced or do not have a voice loud enough to be heard, allowing the entire world to know about an event or situation isolated from their reality.

Press Corps delegates have the responsibility to inform about the present, speculate about the future, and hold delegates accountable for what they do or say; and it is up for them to change the flow of debate accordingly.
