The Republic of France:

The World Trade Organization (WTO) plays a vital role in facilitating global trade and promoting economic development. With its mandate to ensure fairness, transparency, and predictability in international trade, the WTO is well positioned to contribute to poverty reduction efforts globally. The French delegation seeks to analyze the role that the WTO should adopt in addressing poverty reduction in France, taking into account its mandate and powers. The WTO is responsible for creating a framework of rules to govern international trade, resolving trade disputes between member countries, and providing a platform for negotiations on trade related issues. Its mandate is centered on promoting economic growth, sustainable development, and employment generation.

The State of Qatar:

Letting people affected by poverty live their lives in such a state feels like a crime. To bring this crime to justice we must confer with the WTO to convince them to create and/or support an organization that collects donations from the people using Public Service Announcements and then transfers those donations to the homeless people in the form of any of the basic human necessities (food, water, maybe even shelter) or as money. This will allow the people in poverty to build their lives back up to the basic living standards of the average human being.

Signed,

Delegation of The State of Qatar

In light of the WTO’s mandate and authority in international trade governance, its role in pro berth reduction is pivotal. The organization’s primary focus on trade liberalization aligns with the objective of poverty reduction. As studies by Dreher (2006) indicate, there is a robust connection between trade openness and increased per capita income, highlighting the potential for trade liberalization to drive economic growth, which is integral to reducing poverty. Therefore, the role of the WTO in poverty reduction primarily revolves around promoting trade liberalization as a means to foster economic growth, particularly in developing nations.

Furthermore, the WTO recognizes the diverse capabilities and vulnerabilities of its member countries, especially those in the developing world, and offers special and differential treatment.…

Republic of Iceland

The Republic of Iceland believes that the WTO should play a crucial role in poverty reduction. The organization must promote fair trade practices, ensure access to global markets for developing nations, and prioritize development-oriented policies. By reducing trade barriers and facilitating capacity-building initiatives, the WTO can empower impoverished countries to participate more effectively in international trade. Moreover, the organization should address issues such as agriculture subsidies and intellectual property rights to create a more equitable global trading system.

Agricultural subsidies, surpassing $700 billion globally, are predominantly concentrated in developed nations like the US and the EU, but they have significant negative implications. They disrupt global trade dynamics, favouring subsidized countries and creating an uneven playing field for…

The Italian Republic

Abolishing poverty has always been among our top priorities in the regards of bettering our livelihoods. As of the year 2000, the Italian Republic recognizes that around 13,9% of our population lives under relative poverty conditions: people that survive on less than the average monthly expenditure of 1 million 569 Italian lyres (around 810 euros). The World Trade Organization has as its main objective reducing trade barriers, which Italy recognizes as the main pillar in order to reduce the actual poverty rate, that at a worldwide scale is around 68,9% (people living under $5.50 a day). However, according to the International Labour Office, many developing countries have a skeptical approach in the regards of trade liberalization, due…
